Warning - this is a long one, but we all know I am not known for verbal brevity! Well...this week, as a business owner, ...it could have been better, but then again, it could have been worse! I know I say this every time, but thank you so much to those who continuously put up with my videos, pitch in and help when needed, and just offer as much support as a girl could ask for. Thank you to my great dance mom friends who drop by with coffee and end up buying jewelry or clothing you don't need so that you can support this crazy belle! Thank you to the people that have come in and asked about McKinsey! A special thank you to Kathleen Clark who puts up with my crazy as much as my family does!
So let's get down to the good, bad and ugly of the week. It started last week with my first closing due to Tropical Storm Hermine (however you want to pronounce) and then on Saturday with a lizard in the store...and me trying to get said lizard before the customers that were walking in saw a) the reptile and b) my ultimate freak out and melt down. Anyone that knows me, knows how absolutely terrible this could have been. Good news, lizard didn't not attack me or the customer, bad news - I have no clue where that sucker went. You have been officially warned.
The long awaited bracelet bar is in and while we are starting small, I am really excited for this to grow! As a young girl in the 80s I just about ripped my ears apart with the biggest earrings $10 could by at the Limited...so it is typically studs for me these days. I love a good necklace but I ADORE ARM CANDY! Check out the pics of the bracelet bar online - you can stack anyway you like - make it as inexpensive or expensive as you like. Express your individuality with these great bracelets - getting the picture?
I have also added inventory to the Feeling Smitten line! We now carry regular bath bombs (though there is nothing regular about them) and have three great scents - Cotton Candy, Coldbuster and Confetti Cake. In addition we have Bath Salt Slushies - great for days like last Saturday!
On a personal note, I survived my first high school open house in a very long time! I had a new appreciation for the butterflies in my girls' stomachs that first day - I was nervous too! I was super impressed with the high school, its faculty and the organization. Have great expectations for the next four years. Also, went to a kindergarten open house that was just as lovely...of course, my little prince has just been killing kindergarten but I am totally biased when it comes to that little man.
Between the transition in seasons and the tourist season being over, business has been a little less than I would prefer but I will keep the faith. I saw this on a friends Facebook page, wrote it down and taped it on the counter this week. "Without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him earnestly." Hebrews 11:6. I encourage anyone to cling to that verse - keep the faith what ever your mountain may be. As a little girl, my mom always told me the story about having faith so little as even a mustard seed can move mountains. As an adult, I find myself constantly reminded that a little faith goes a long way and continuously amazed by God's grace and blessings.
Our McKinsey Foundation fundraiser is nearing an end but please do not end the spark we have started in raising awareness for this organization and the great things they are doing for the children of Uganda. Continue to give as you can and donate directly at www.mckinseyfund.org.
I will be seeing you all soon - until then, I will be keeping the faith and hopefully you all do as well!
